His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum :: The History of Education

The discovery of oil provided the necessary finances to improve the education system. This was a high priority for His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the UAE President, who declared: "Youth is the real wealth of the nation." His aim was to use the oil revenue to develop academically and technically qualified citizens - men and women - able to serve their country in its future progress.

Sharjah :: A Pioneer in Culture and Education

The first properly organized school was established in Sharjah in the 1950's. The old school building still exists today and is located in the Heritage area next to Souk Al Arsah.

Excellent multinational nursery, primary, secondary and undergraduate education exists in Sharjah. Since 1997, state-of-the-art Universities have opened. The federal education ministry takes its responsibilities towards private schooling very seriously and schools are inspected on a regular basis to help maintain high quality of education .
