Legalisation Requirements
The following documents should be authenticated from the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in one of the capital cities of the Australian states/ territories in Australia or from the Authentication Unit of the New Zealand Department of Internal Affairs (PO Box 805, Wellington) if the document is from New Zealand.

A pre-paid self-addressed return envelope is required. (Applicants from outside Australia such as New Zealand are advised to buy International coupons (NZ Post) and attach it to the self-addressed return envelope in order to be able to use it as a return postage. Alternatively, we can contact you by e-mail to arrange the pick of the documents by a courier upon the completion of the legalization process).
- The process of legalization takes at least three working days ( Sometimes can take up to 5 working days).

If a Certificate of Registration of a company or Certificate of Incorporation is sent for legalization separately, the fee is (AU$1,200) per each as stated above. If one of the certificates or both sent with a Commercial Power of Attorney or any of the other document mentioned above, the fee of each certificate is AU$60.00

If there are more than one document in a bundle, we charge you on a separate basis, AU$60.00 per each one according the total number of the documents in the bundle.

Australian Money Order, Bank Cheque or Bank Draft (if it is from outside Australia) payable to the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates.
Commercial Invoice Fees
The fee of the commercial invoice depends on its total value. Example for this: if the total value of the invoice is in US Dollar, multiply it by 4 and if it is in Australian Dollar multiply it by 3.50 in order convert it to UAE currency and then find out the exact fee in Australian Dollars from the following table. This applies only on the commercial invoice, which its total value up to two million UAE Dirham.

The fee of additional copy of the same commercial invoice is AU$ 60.00
Effective 01 February 2006, any company which its commercial invoice value exceeds two million UAE Dirham (UAE Currency), has to call the Embassy to get the exact fee which is going to be calculated according to the total value of the commercial invoice.

All commercial documents should be stamped from the local Australian chamber of commerce and industry or the Australia - Arab Chamber of Commerce in one of the capital cities of the Australian States in Australia. New Zealand documents should be stamped from New Zealand Chamber of Commerce.
Please note that:
- If the goods are not of Australian Origin, the exporter company should send a certified declaration of origin (not an Australian Certificate of Origin). This rule applies also in the exporters companies in New Zealand.
- We cannot legalise the certificate of origin without legalising the original commercial invoice.
- The process of legalisation takes at least three working days.(Sometimes up-to 5 working days).
- A pre-paid self-addressed return envelope is required.
- Documents have to be directed to attention to: consular section.
Payment methods

Police Clearance
Applicant who wishes to obtain Police Clearance from the United Arab Emirates should fulfill the following requirements and post it to the Embassy of UAE in Canberra, Australia:
- Original fingerprints "Using Print Matic Inkpad" from local police in Australia or New Zealand.
- Authenticate the "10 Finger Print" from the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade in one of the capital cities of Australian States in Australia or from the Ministry of Internal Affairs in New Zealand.
- A fee of Sixty Australian Dollars ($60AU) by Australian Money Order and if it is from New Zealand by Bank Draft, payable to the Embassy of UAE.
- A pre-paid self-addressed return envelope. If the application is from NZ please provide the Embassy a return envelope with two to three (2-3) stamped International coupons.
After we legalize the fingerprint, we will enclose a form to be filled by the applicant and instructions which clarifies the type of documents the applicant has to send to UAE with the legalized fingerprint.
The Embassy does not provide a letter or form to the applicant when obtaining a finger print from the police station.
Medication
Regarding medications, travellers are advised to read the following guidelines:

For prescription medicine brought with you into the United Arab of Emirates, you are required to complete the following steps:
- Authenticate the prescription or medical report by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade (http://www.smartraveller.gov.au/authen.html), or New Zealand Ministry of Internal Affairs (http://www.dia.govt.nz/diawebsite.nsf/wpg_URL/Services-Document-Authentication-Index?OpenDocument).
- Legalize the prescription or medical report at the Embassy of the United Arab of Emirates, in Canberra Australia (Address found at the top of this page). You need to send the following:
- A money order of $60.00AU payable to the Embassy of UAE.
- A pre-paid self-addressed envelope for returning the documents.
Processing time may take up to 5 working days.
Taking Pets to UAE
If you want to take a pet during your residence period in the United Arab Emirates, you need to read carefully the Ministerial decision No. 348 of the year 2008 in relation to the health requirements for importing animal of companionship (Pets Animals) to the UAE (in PDF).
